Congratulations to 8th grader Audrey Mitchell, winner of the Ray-Pec School District Spelling Bee! 8th grader Connor Cranston was the runner-up. Both students attend South Middle School.
Twenty-six students from across the district participated in the District Spelling Bee on Jan. 14 at Eagle Glen Elementary.
After five rounds, two students remained to compete for the Championship round. In an incredible back and forth display, these two students went head to head for an additional 33 rounds before a winner was crowned in round 39.
As winner, Audrey received a trophy and gift card. She will also represent Ray-Pec at the County Bee on March 11 at the Administrative Services Building. Connor also received a trophy and gift card. All other spellers received medallions.
