[ARCHIVED] Carolyn Deane named new principal of Stonegate Elementary School

Carolyn Deane 2020

Carolyn Deane will be the new principal at Stonegate Elementary School, effective July 2020. The Ray-Pec School Board approved the hiring at its Jan. 23 meeting.

Deane is a familiar face in the District. She came to Ray-Pec in 2011 to work across the district as a Behavior Interventionist. She continued in that role through 2018. She has served as a Summer School elementary school principal from 2014 to 2019. Since 2018, Deane has been serving as an Administrative Intern at Bridle Ridge Elementary School.

Deane is committed to creating a community of learners where every student can reach his or her potential and every stakeholder is valued. She takes a genuine interest in the lives of others and in creating the connections that act as a catalyst for the learning process.

“The Raymore-Peculiar School District has a reputation for high expectations and standards for all learners,” she said. “I am excited and honored to join the Stonegate family to continue this standard of excellence and look forward to serving alongside the students, families, and staff.”

Before joining the Ray-Pec School District, Deane worked from 2002 to 2011 in the East Lynne School District in a variety of roles, including school counselor, Director of Student Services, K-8 physical education teacher, K-8 gifted education teacher, and 6-8 Activities Director/basketball coach.

Deane earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Missouri State University and completed the teacher certification program through the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She earned a master’s degree in education administration through William Woods University and is currently pursuing her doctorate through William Woods.

Deane and her husband, Jim, have four children: Cody (18), Caleb (17), Lucy (15), and Mason (12).

She will replace Principal Doug Becker, who is retiring at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
