School year to begin with alternative schedule for grades 6-12

Online registration for the 2020-2021 school year is now open!

As you register your children, you will make a choice for your child between an in-person learning experience or a virtual learning experience. Please make this choice by Tuesday, July 21.

As of today, about 40 percent of Ray-Pec families have completed the registration process. Please complete your online registration by July 21 so that we can plan staffing for the fall. Complete the online registration forms: https://sdm.sisk12.com/RP/parent. For instructions about online registration, go here.

Please review the information about in-person learning, the District’s virtual learning program, and the school re-entry plan, before you make your choice. We are posting the answers to frequently-asked questions on our website.

 

Alternative schedule for grades 6-12

As of today, more than 80 percent of Ray-Pec students who have completed registration want to return to in-person learning. As you recall, the District has shared on several occasions and through its re-entry plan that if a large number of families wanted to return to in-person learning, there would be a need for an alternative schedule for grades 6-12. Because of the numbers who have already selected in-person learning, the District is announcing today the decision to implement an alternative schedule for grades 6-12.

This plan will allow for fewer students in the high school and middle schools each day. The reason for this will be to allow for physical distancing to a greater extent.

If you have already completed the registration process, but would like to change your choice based on this new information, please complete this form by Thursday, July 23.

Please note: This plan only affects students in grades 6-12. Students in elementary school would continue with a full 5-day in-person experience.

 

Other potential adjustment plans

Please note that any of these adjustments may be implemented at any time as conditions warrant:

  • There may be periodic classroom or school closures with a transition to short-term distance learning for those groups of students.

  • The District may transition grades 6-12 to a full virtual environment while continuing to provide elementary students with a full 5-day in-person experience by spreading out using space at the elementary and middle schools. (This option does not impact students K-12 who had already selected the VIPR option.)

  • The District may implement a full virtual instruction model for all students.

 

What if I need assistance with registration?

In-person registration times are available for families who need assistance completing the forms. Families who need documents notarized and others with special circumstances may also find it beneficial to register in-person. In-person registration 

In-person registration assistance will take place at the Ray-Pec High School library on these dates and times:

  • 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 21

  • 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22

  • 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29

 

This registration event is for residency and registration purposes only. If you have already completed online registration and submitted your utility bill, you do not need to attend.

 

Important notes about in-person registration assistance:

  • Face coverings are required

  • Please have one person per family attend

  • Student schedules will not be distributed

  • Booster Club, PTA, and Apple Bus representatives will not be on site

  • Personnel from individual schools will not be present

  • High School parking passes will not be distributed

  • This event will not include sales of yearbooks, spirit wear, and PTA memberships

To minimize crowding or wait times, if you are able to complete the forms online, you do not need to attend the in-person event.

 

Verify residency

Every family in the Ray-Pec School District must verify residency each year as part of the registration/enrollment process. To verify residency send an email to residency@raypec.org and include the following information in the email message:

  • Name(s) of your student(s), grade level(s) and the school(s) they will attend.

  • Your address.

  • A phone number where you can be reached.

Attach a PDF copy of your electric, gas, or water bill (may be scanned) to the email.

  • The bill must be in the name of a parent or legal guardian in the primary resident household for the student.

  • The bill must show the service address (not just mailing address).

  • The bill must have been issued within the last 30 days.

  • A final notice or disconnect notice is not an acceptable proof of residency.
