Hi! I’m Mrs. Thompson. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Avila in 2016, and have been teaching at Ray-Pec High School since 2016 as well. I’ve taught Sophomore ELA each year. I am also pursuing my Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Pedagogy through Emporia State beginning in January of 2019. When I’m not teaching or grading, I am probably spending time with my husband and two dogs!

Course Description

English II and Advanced English II are survey courses which cover a wide array of literature and writing assignments. The class will read a variety of novels, plays, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction. The students will also complete grammar and vocabulary activities focusing primarily on improving reading, writing, and communication skills. The End of Course Exam (Missouri State Assessment) and ACT are a major component of practice. A significant amount of independent reading will be required and assessed. Plagiarism will not be tolerated and will receive disciplinary action. This course requires in-depth analysis, and a high level of engagement and commitment from enrolled students.

The learning management system that I utilize for both courses is Google Classroom. This is where students can find daily assignments and activities that they are to complete (this is where I direct them if they are absent from class as well).
