Meet Superintendent Dr. Mike Slagle
Dr. Mike Slagle has been dedicated to serving the Ray-Pec community since assuming the role of superintendent of schools in July 2020.
In his capacity as the top leader of the Raymore-Peculiar School District, Dr. Slagle spearheads initiatives aimed at achieving the district's strategic objectives. Through effective team leadership, the district has achieved remarkable successes, including the continual expansion of innovative student programs, leading in Missouri's Success Ready Student Network (SRSN), transitioning the academy program to a service-based learning model, establishing the LEAD Center, enhancing the number of students graduating with marketable assets (MVAs), improving academic metrics aligned with the strategic plan, and securing victories in a bond issue and a levy transfer campaign.
With over three decades of experience in PK-12 education, Dr. Slagle started his career as a social studies educator.
He earned his bachelor’s degrees in education from Nebraska Christian College and in social studies education from Wayne State College. He pursued further education, earning a master’s degree in urban planning and policy from the University of Iowa, and a doctorate in organizational and educational leadership from the University of Kansas.
In recognition of his outstanding performance as an emerging superintendent, Dr. Slagle was honored in 2022 as one of eight Missouri Superintendents by the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA).
Additionally, in 2021, Dr. Slagle was distinguished as a Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), being among 19 superintendents nationwide chosen for this accolade. These honorees exemplify dynamic, fast-paced leadership with strong communication skills, all within their first five years as a superintendent.
Dr. Slagle and his wife, Jenny, reside in Raymore, where they cherish family time with their two sons and two daughters-in-law.
